I love hot summer days.
I know I’m in the minority, but I’ll take the heat over cold weather any day. No coats, no layers — just shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals, and I’m out the door.
Summer takes me back.
Back to a childhood of fishing trips, creek adventures, catching fireflies, and sleeping under the stars on Mom’s homemade quilts. Sure, there was work — tending the garden, picking squash, tossing newspapers — but I never once worried if I’d eat or where I’d sleep.
We had structure.
Family dinners. Church on Sundays. Clean clothes. A roof overhead.
And most of all, love.
But not everyone grew up that way — and not everyone gets to enjoy summer today.
As I drive around Denton, I see our neighbors living on the streets.
I wonder:
– Do they have food today?
– Clean water?
– A safe place to sleep?
– Anyone who cares?
Life has gotten harder.
Costs are up. Support systems are down. Mental health struggles are everywhere.
At Community Forever Village, we believe everyone deserves the simple joys of summer — and the deeper gift of belonging. That’s why we’re building more than homes. We’re building a community rooted in love, stability, and dignity.
Will you join us?
Together, we can make sure our neighbors aren’t just surviving the summer — they’re part of it.
