Joy: A Heartfelt Reminder and Call to Action

Joy! Joyful! Joyous! These words have been resonating in my heart all week. From a message I heard on Sunday from my pastor to the encouragement shared at a Women of Goodness dinner, the theme of joy feels like more than a coincidence—and I feel compelled to share it with you today.

Joy is something we can choose to feel, regardless of our circumstances. Unlike happiness, joy doesn’t depend on everything going well. It doesn’t hinge on achieving what we want or having the perfect day. Joy comes from a deeper place; it arises when we embrace God’s goodness in every situation—even the hard ones.

Joy reminds us of this truth: God only wants good things for us. The Bible promises us in Romans 8:28 that “All things work together for good for those who love God.” Choosing joy means leaning into that promise, believing that even when we don’t understand the why, God has a plan and purpose for our struggles. A joyful heart doesn’t deny pain but transforms it into hope.

Finding Joy Amid Trials

The foundation of healing—physical, emotional, and spiritual—is a joyful heart. When we focus on joy, we allow God’s grace to turn pain into purpose and sorrow into joy. Pain is real. Sometimes it’s so heavy, it feels unrelenting. But even in our darkest moments, God’s promise remains unshaken: He is with us, He loves us, and His goodness never ends. That’s the wellspring from which true joy flows.

For our chronically homeless neighbors, finding joy can feel like an impossible task. Their struggles are unimaginable, but it is in those very moments that God’s power shines the brightest. When we extend a hand, offer a listening ear, or provide a safe place to rest, we create moments of joy that can break through the despair. Small acts of kindness become reflections of God’s love and catalysts for transformation.

As Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” Joy is a command and an invitation—to celebrate who God is and what He’s doing, even when our circumstances try to tell a different story. And when we help others experience that joy, we partake in God’s mission.

Join Us in Sharing Joy

At Community Forever Village, we believe joy is a gift meant to be shared—especially with those who need it most. Our mission is to provide more than housing to the chronically homeless; we want to foster a community where they can rediscover joy, belonging, and dignity. And you can be part of that mission.

How can you share joy today?

  • Volunteer your time to build relationships with someone in need.
  • Donate to Community Forever Village to help us provide stability and hope to the chronically homeless.
  • Pray for the people we serve, that they would feel God’s goodness even amid their struggles.

Joy is contagious. When you choose joy, you inspire others to do the same. Together, let’s create a ripple effect of joy—one life, one act of kindness at a time.

Will you join us in making a difference today? Let’s spread joy together!
