In the Bible, we read about the Beatitudes (Luke 6:20-26), and if you continue reading through verse 38, Jesus teaches what we should do and how bountiful God will be if we act justly. “Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you” (Luke 6:38).
I am currently reading, “Beyond Homelessness” by Steven Bouma-Prediger and Brian J Walsh. In their book, the authors talk about “prioritizing the needs of the poor and restraining the acquisitive appetites of the rich” (Walsh, 2008).
At CFV, we understand that Housing Comes First, but the social policies of our planned village, access to healthcare, mental health services, security, and a genuine opportunity for meaningful employment embodies the care we will have for all members of our community.
Let us reflect on the Beatitudes as we join together in building an extraordinary community of tiny homes for the chronically homeless of Denton County. Fill your cup to overflowing by donating, volunteering, and showing mercy and love to our homeless neighbors.
