I was volunteering with Giving Grace on a Saturday, and was reminded how our lives can take unexpected turns and for some, that means they end up homeless. You think you have a secure job that’s recession-proof, then COVID happens, and you lose everything. You try to eat right and exercise, but you get sick and aren’t able to work anymore and, without family to support you, you have to choose between medical care, rent, and food. By the time you recover, everything is gone.
It would be so easy to fall into despair if you were homeless, but I was touched by the light shining forth from those I spoke to who were homeless. They knew God. Even though they didn’t understand why homelessness “happened to them”, they knew God was watching over them. They had hope that life would get better. That they would have the security and peace of a permanent home.
Community Forever Village is answering God’s call to build a beautiful community right here in Denton that will provide that peace and security that so many of our chronically homeless neighbors are searching for. Join us in giving glory to God through service, financial donations, and your prayers.
“May our light shine before all that they may see the good that we do and give glory to God” (Greif).
